Eagle-eyed royal fans have often noticed Princess Catherine stepping out without her precious engagement ring on her finger, but there’s a very practical reason she and many other royals do this.

Kate Middleton’s stunning 12-carat sapphire and diamond engagement ring may be the most famous piece of royal jewelry worn by a member of the family for the past century. The ring was given to Kate by her now-husband Prince William when he proposed back in 2010, but the piece had an incredibly meaningful history before this event.

The engagement ring was originally given to William’s mother, Princess Diana, by his father, King Charles III, when he proposed and upon her death, it passed down to Prince Harry before he gifted it to William. The style now goes by the name ‘Princess Diana’ in an ode to the late Princess of Wales.

Needless to say, hiding an engagement ring box can be a pretty stressful experience, especially if you already live with your partner or they spend a lot of time in your home.

Sometimes the spots that seem the best are the ones that end up being the most obvious, and the last thing you want is for your partner to accidentally stumble across that tiny box before you have the chance to get down on one knee. Ideally you’ll have just one shot at this — either picking out an engagement ring for your beloved or, best-case scenario, having the lovely task of choosing one for yourself. But you don’t have to go for a single brilliant-cut solitaire diamond in a traditional claw setting. The four Cs — cut, carat, colour and clarity — are important, but so is choosing something that fits with your personal aesthetic. And the exciting news is that there is a cohort of young designers (as well as some more familiar brands) creating rings that are original, colourful, design-led and different.

PS, no emeralds, you will notice. I don’t care if you never lift a finger in your daily life, they’re much too fragile to be worn every day. And anyway, a pair of emerald earrings are a good wish-list inclusion for when you hit a significant anniversary.

When Millie Bobby Brown hinted at her engagement to Jake Bongiovi on April 11, 2023, via Instagram, what really grabbed everyone’s attention was the glittering diamond ring on her left hand. Now, three days after the Stranger Things actress subtly announced the news, she’s giving fans an even closer look at her engagement ring. On April 13, 2023, Brown uploaded a video to announce her latest project, Florence by Mills Coffee, which she said has always been a dream of hers. At the end of the clip, the Enola Holmes star blew her followers a kiss, exhibiting a close-up shot of the sparkler.

According to Kathryn Money, SVP of merchandizing and retail expansion at Brilliant Earth, the star’s engagement ring appears to be a cushion-cut or round-cut diamond with a cushion-shaped halo on a pavé band. Money explains to Brides that the estimated price point of the ring costs anywhere between $75,000 to $100,000. Millie Bobby Brown is continuing to send her fans into a frenzy after she flashed a large diamond ring in a new Instagram video.

On Thursday, Brown, 19, took to Instagram to announce her new business venture, Florence by Mills Coffee, where her fans were able to get a sneak peek at her rumored engagement ring as she blew a kiss at the end.

The “Stranger Things” actress seemed to announce her engagement to Jake Bongiovi in an Instagram post earlier this week.

Brown quoted the Taylor Swift song “Lover” in her caption, writing, “I’ve loved you three summers now, honey, I want ‘em all.”

Olivia Culpo says attending Coachella without ring after Christian McCaffrey engagement led to ‘trouble’

San Francisco 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey just proposed to longtime girlfriend Olivia Culpo earlier this month, but the former Miss USA revealed that the decision not to wear her engagement ring at Coachella got her into a bit of “trouble.”

In a “get ready with me” TikTok video posted Sunday, Culpo said she got hit on during the popular music festival, which she attended with her sisters, Aurora and Sophia Culpo, and her longtime assistant, Jackson McDonald.

Though not a princess cut, Olivia Culpo’s new diamond is certainly fit for a princess.

The former Miss Universe announced Friday that she accepted Christian McCaffrey’s proposal — and in doing so also said “yes” to a massive Ring Concierge sparkler.

The NFL star presented the retired beauty pageant queen with a stunning oval-cut diamond flanked by epaulette side stones, surrounded by a platinum setting and finished with an ultra-thin gold band.

“We worked with Christian to thoughtfully design a ring that encompassed Olivia’s trendsetting style while still remaining timeless,” the fine jewelry company’s founder and CEO, Nicole Wegman, tells Page Six Style.

Jeweler Jessica Flinn-Allen — who did not design the ring — tells us Culpo’s sparkler could be as large as 8 carats and worth around $600,000.

Sarah Renee Downs, a gemologist at Rare Carat who also did not have a hand in making the piece, estimates the center stone to weigh in at 5 carats and put the ring’s value at around $500,000.

Though he opted for an extravagant bauble, the groom-to-be chose to pop the question during the couple’s seemingly low-key road trip.

“If they get to the point that they want to propose, blind-engagement-rings-buys-netflix-season-4-cast-weddings-1789874″we will ultimately give them [the rings],” he told Newsweek in November 2022. “I don’t know how many different kinds of rings, but there’s some selection of rings that we will show to them…and if they want to propose and get engaged, we will give them the opportunity to.”

Chris went on to say that he makes it clear to the female contestants that they have the ability to propose to the men if they choose.

“On every show that I’ve worked on, I always say to the women, ‘You know you can propose.’ Like this is an equal, mutual decision,” he added. “If you want to propose, you have the power to do that. We encourage you to.”

Despite the production company footing the bill for the diamonds, it’s unclear what happens to the jewelry if the couple doesn’t make it down the aisle.
