How to Create a Bespoke Engagement Ring

Olivia Landau, founder and CEO of The Clear Cut notes that close to 90% of her customers work on designing a bespoke ring as a team. “Most of the time during the first phone consultation or while picking out the diamonds, both people will work together and then one person will drop out for an element of surprise,” she shares. “A lot of couples collaborate financially, too. It’s a very involved process and something that’s super personal. You’re going to wear it on your hand forever, so you want to make sure that you love it and that you’re making the right investment.”

Start With Ring Education

Before you begin the process of designing a custom ring, you should educate yourself on the ins and outs of engagement rings. If you plan to have a diamond engagement ring, learning about the 4Cs (cut, color, clarity, and carat) is essential. This can give you a scope of the quality, size, style, and, ultimately, cost of your center stone.

“I think budget is the biggest piece that influences what the ring inevitably looks like,” notes Gottlieb. “We always want to manage expectations for a couple, we would never want them to be trying on rings that don’t suit their budget. Upfront, have a conversation about that and then figure out what that means from a carat size perspective and what types of compromises you’re willing to make on quality to get to a certain size.”

You also should consider whether you want to purchase a natural or lab-grown diamond. Some couples prefer ethically sourced natural diamonds for their time-tested value and ability to support local mining communities, while others prefer lab-grown stones due to their lower costs and more sustainable production. Certain designers work exclusively with one type of stone,

All the details on Olivia Culpo’s engagement ring from Christian McCaffrey

Though not a princess cut, Olivia Culpo’s new diamond is certainly fit for a princess.

The former Miss Universe announced Friday that she accepted Christian McCaffrey’s proposal — and in doing so also said “yes” to a massive Ring Concierge sparkler.

The NFL star presented the retired beauty pageant queen with a stunning oval-cut diamond flanked by epaulette side stones, surrounded by a platinum setting and finished with an ultra-thin gold band.

“We worked with Christian to thoughtfully design a ring that encompassed Olivia’s trendsetting style while still remaining timeless,” the fine jewelry company’s founder and CEO, Nicole Wegman, tells Page Six Style.

Jeweler Jessica Flinn-Allen — who did not design the ring — tells us Culpo’s sparkler could be as large as 8 carats and worth around $600,000.

Sarah Renee Downs, a gemologist at Rare Carat who also did not have a hand in making the piece, estimates the center stone to weigh in at 5 carats and put the ring’s value at around $500,000.

Though he opted for an extravagant bauble, the groom-to-be chose to pop the question during the couple’s seemingly low-key road trip.

While driving an RV through an undisclosed location, the San Francisco 49ers running back and the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model got out of their vehicle to have a special moment in front of a picturesque boulder.

Surrounded by flowers, McCaffrey got down on one knee.

“♾️4.2.23♾️,” the pair captioned a joint Instagram carousel containing black-and-white photos of their engagement, including a shot of happy tears streaming down Culpo’s face.

With a well-dressed client list that includes Chloe x Halle, Neicy Nash, Megan Thee Stallion, and Latto, Zerina Akers knows a thing or two about fashion. She was also personal stylist and wardrobe curator for none other than Queen Bey herself. But while she’s worked with some of the hottest stars, the opportunity to dress the iconic doll, was like a dream fulfilled.

“Partnering with Barbie and getting to dress yet another icon is such a full circle moment for me—Barbie and Mattel were such a huge part of my childhood and are so nostalgic for me. I’m so excited to reimagine Barbie’s style and help inspire the next generation of fashionistas to dream big!” Akers said.

How The Adidas Samba Sneaker Became Fashion’s New Favorite Shoe (Again)

The Adidas Samba sneaker is by no means novel. First designed in the 1940s as a soccer shoe (or, rather, football, since it was created in Germany), the sneaker — a minimal style featuring a rubber sole and the brand’s signature three stripes and often constructed of a mix of leather and suede — spent over 70 years sitting amongst the athletic brand’s lineup of beloved sneakers which also include Superstars and Stan Smiths. But over the last year, and most noticeably the last few months, the Samba has emerged as the Sneaker of the Moment, preferred by trendsetters like Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, and Frank Ocean.

“We’ve seen a noticeable uptick in both supply and demand for the Samba,” confirms Aniza Lall, SVP of commercial at Stadium Goods, where sales of the sports shoe have increased over 600% since June.

While it’s a stark rise for a sneaker that’s been around for decades, it’s not entirely surprising: Thanks to a number of high-profile collabs including Jonah Hill, skateboarder Jason Dill, and, most notably, menswear designer Grace Wales Bonner, the Samba is now available in more eye-catching iterations that are drawing in both men and women seeking the next It shoe. According to shopping app Lyst’s newest quarterly report, Adidas has risen four spots in the “hottest brand rankings,” to 13th place. With, according to the report, “the Adidas x Wales Bonner Samba sneakers topping the men’s hottest products list.”

“The Grace Wales Bonner collab is one of the most special [collaborations],” says Lall. “Mixing the world of high fashion with the [European] football roots of the shoe.” On resale sites, Sambas from the debut collaboration are samba-wales-bonner-core-black” data-ylk=”slk:listed for close to $1,000″ class=”link “listed for close to $1,000 — a clear indicator that demand for

The Fashion-Forward Way Kim Kardashian and Her Daughters Are Supporting Kanye West

The Fashion-Forward Way Kim Kardashian and Her Daughters Are Supporting Kanye West

Kim Kardashian and her daughters are keeping the flashing lights on Kanye “Ye” West‘s brand. While they’ve been in the midst of a divorce for more than a year, the mom of four clearly still has her rapper ex’s back.

On Thursday, Kim shared snaps with their daughters, North, 9, and Chicago, 4, sporting bold, futuristic-style Yeezy sunglasses. Or as Kim captioned the post, “YR 3022 YEEZY SHDZ.”

The youngsters confidently posed for the camera and snapped a few selfies with the shades on. In fact, over on the Yeezy Instagram account, North’s photo was featured. “YZY SPLY SHDZ,” the account promoted.

Over in the comment section, North was garnering praise. “A queen, and icon,” one fan wrote. Another echoed, “Icon living.”

North has been putting her style — and makeup — skills on display as of late, accompanying her mom to fashion shows in Paris last month and recently transforming the SKIMS mogul into a minion with makeup

“She’s really into special effects makeup,” Kim told Jimmy Fallon of her firstborn during a recent appearance on The Tonight Show. “She does really good wounds and scars … she’s really good at it.”

While Kim and her kids are promoting Kanye’s fashion, there’s one star who’s no longer as close to Ye — John Legend

“We aren’t friends as much as we used to be,” Legend shared during an appearance on The Axe Files podcast with CNN’s David Axelrod. “I honestly think because we publicly disagreed on his running for office, his supporting Trump. I think it became too much for us to sustain our friendship.”

Legend continued, “He was upset that I didn’t support his run for presidency of the United States

What’s Behind Fashion’s Bimbo Moment?

Style Points is a weekly column about how fashion intersects with the wider world.

When this spring’s Met Gala, with its theme of “gilded glamour,” collided with the leaked draft of the Supreme Court’s Roe v. Wade ruling, there was plenty of talk about the cognitive dissonance of the two events—celebrities preening in couture while the rollback of abortion rights loomed. But, of course, the timing was just an unfortunate coincidence, not a manifestation of some kind of post-Roe mindset in fashion.

More jarring might be the way that since then, fashion—in the wake of a new, more circumscribed world for women—has accelerated the rise of a new (old) archetype: the bimbo. On TikTok, self-described followers of the trend congregate on #BimboTok, engaging in “Math is Hard” Barbie cosplay in a repudiation of the girlboss. Onscreen, there’s a sudden prevalence of projects like Peacock’s Angelyne, Hulu’s Pam & Tommy, and, coming up, Greta Gerwig’s much-ballyhooed Barbie, which, if the paparazzi pictures are anything to go on, will include a lot of pink matching sets.

On certain corners of Instagram, Anna Nicole Smith and aughts-era Paris Hilton are held up as avatars. And on red carpets, celebrities are opting for a style that’s been dubbed “Barbiecore” (think: Anne Hathaway’s hot pink look at Valentino couture, Kim Kardashian’s monochrome bubblegum ensemble, or Megan Fox’s abbreviated outfit from the premiere of Machine Gun Kelly’s documentary (titled—what else?—Life in Pink). The hallmarks of the look, beyond lots of pink, are exposed midriffs, sparkly mini bags, and elephantine platforms that evoke Barbie’s credo of “accessories sold separately.” If femininity is a performance, these women are doing it with jazz hands.
