Princess Diana Did Not Choose Her Engagement Ring and Wanted Something ‘Simpler,’ According to Her Former Butler

We’ve all heard the story about Princess Diana picking out the beautiful 12-carat sapphire engagement Charles proposed to her with. Well, someone who used to work for the princess is claiming that she didn’t pick out that ring and if she did get to choose her own ring it would have looked a lot different.

Here’s more on that and who reportedly selected Princess Diana’s ring.

The story that Princess Diana picked out her own engagement ring

Over the years it’s been reported that then-Prince Charles allowed Diana to choose her own engagement ring. That same story was later reenacted in the fourth season of The Crown.

According to Vogue, Diana’s stunning ring, which is set in 18-carat white gold with 14 solitaire diamonds, was featured in a Garrard catalog. At the time that was unheard of since engagement rings for the royals are usually custom-made.

There are several theories about why that particular ring was selected. Annie Sulzberger, The Crown’s  head of research told diana-engagement-ring-the-crown”Vogue that some believe “the color matched her eyes, or the queen may have actually selected it, or as Diana was later quoted as saying ‘It was the biggest.’ [While] others claim that it simply reminded her of her mother’s engagement ring.”

Well, according to Diana’s former employee and confidant, the theory about the queen choosing it for the princess is correct.

Princess Diana’s Butler Shoots Down Prince Harry’s Engagement Ring Claim

Princess Diana’s former royal butler has hit out at Prince Harry’s claim that, despite press reporting to the contrary, he did not give Prince William their mother’s engagement ring to propose to Kate Middleton with because “it wasn’t mine to give.”

Burrell, who worked for Diana from 1987 up until her death in a 1997 Paris car crash, told a U.K. newspaper on Tuesday that Harry did ask for the jewel because he was present when the brothers were asked to pick out pieces of jewelry at Kensington Palace in the aftermath of their mother’s death.

According to Burrell, Harry chose to keep Diana’s highly treasured engagement ring as a keepsake and William opted for her Cartier watch. This he repeated in interviews after the ring appeared on the finger of Kate Middleton in 2010, alleging that Harry must have given it to his brother.

Harry denied this account in his bombshell memoir Spare which hit the shelves in January, becoming the fastest-selling non-fiction book in history.

“The papers published florid stories about the moment I realized Willy and Kate were well matched, the moment I appreciated the depth of their love and thus decided to gift Willy the ring I’d inherited from Mummy, the legendary sapphire,” he wrote.

“A tender moment between brothers, a bonding moment for all three of us, and absolute rubbish,” he continued. “None of it ever happened. I never gave Willy that ring because it wasn’t mine to give. He already had it. He’d

Fashion designer claims Sam Brinton wore her stolen clothes

A fashion designer from Houston claimed that disgraced former Department of Energy official Sam Brinton wore the custom-made clothes that she had reported missing from a Washington, DC, airport in 2018.

Asya Khamsin, a Tanzanian fashion designer who has made her own clothing for years, shared the shocking connection in a Monday tweet that has since gone viral.

Khamsin said she found photos of Brinton wearing her custom clothing that she had packed in the missing bag after learning that Brinton had been charged with stealing multiple pieces of luggage from two US airports.

The fashion designer tweeted photos showing some of the clothes she lost and then Brinton — who identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns — wearing the same outfits.

“I saw the images. Those were my custom designs, which were lost in that bag in 2018,” she told Fox News. “He wore my clothes, which was stolen.”

Geri Halliwell’s – aka Ginger Spice

Geri Halliwell (officially now Horner, following her 2017 marriage) will forever be known for her time as one fifth of the iconic girl band the Spice Girls.

Although Ginger Spice’s style trajectory has spanned three decades in the spotlight, and celebrates her 50th birthday on 6 August, its her on-stage looks that have become the most memorable.

Early in Spice Girls history the Nineties looks were in full swing; platforms, leopard prints and perspex was the modus operandi for the famous girl group, and of course Geri was no exception.

The “hot-headed and lively” Ginger Spice matched her style to her name, with vibrant red hues and classic ‘90s fabrics, but it was her Union Jack dress that went down in history as one of the most iconic outfits in pop culture history.

Although uttered by all of the members of the Spice Girls, “girl power” became closely associated with Geri, and her Union Jack dress from the 1997 Brit Awards also became an enduring symbol of the movement.

But the singer wasn’t originally meant to wear the iconic dress. In fact, it wasn’t even a dress.

The Spice Girls were scheduled to open the 1997 Brit Awards, but Ginger Spice Geri thought that the black Gucci mini dress that she was supposed to perform in was too “boring” so she enlisted the help of her sister, Karen.

Deciding to celebrate being British, Karen stitched a Union Jack tea towel on top of the original Gucci dress, and doing so, created one of the most iconic pieces of pop culture clothing

Given these price increases, you may have decided to get creative to lower your grocery bill. Specifically, you may want to find as many ways as possible to get free food.

Maya Jama ‘heartbroken’ amid ‘split from fiance Ben Simmons’ after a year

Maya Jama and Ben Simmons

Maya Jama is said to be ‘heartbroken’ after reportedly splitting from her fiance Ben Simmons – however, she was spotted wearing her engagement ring just last week.

The former BBC Radio 1 presenter got engaged to the NBA player in December when he popped the question over the Christmas period.

From then, Maya, 27, swiftly moved to the US where basketball star Ben, 26, is based and has divided her time between the UK and Stateside ever since.

She jetted back home last week to attend the GRM Gala – where she was seen wearing her large diamond engagement ring – but sources claimed the couple have called time on their whirlwind year-long romance.

However, the TV presenter has since denied the claims tweeting: ‘Stop believing “sources” in papers plz.’

An insider had earlier claimed: ‘Maya called it off engagement after things came to head last month.

‘She is not going back to New York now. It’s heartbreaking for both of them, especially as they were so committed to each other.’

They added to The Sun On Sunday: ‘Maya has a bright future ahead of her with job offers coming in all over the world and is feeling positive. She has been hitting the gym a lot and spending time with her good friends.’

In a recent Instagram story over the weekend, Maya was seen wearing a ring on her left hand but it didn’t appear to be the engagement ring Ben had given her.
