Engagement Ring Shopping Dos and Don’ts with Jeremy Millul

Jeremy Millul has built his career giving expert advice to men and women looking to make those important jewelry choices for that special moment. Finding the perfect engagement ring is an exciting yet daunting task. With countless options available, it’s essential to navigate the world of engagement ring shopping with expert guidance. Sound advice prepares ring shoppers to make the most informed decisions and choose the ring that makes their special moment truly unforgettable.

Do: Research Your Partner’s Style and Preferences

According to Jeremy Millul, thorough research is essential when it comes to understanding your partner’s style and preferences. He advises, “Engagement rings are a deeply personal choice. Take note of the jewelry your partner currently wears, their fashion choices, and the overall aesthetic they gravitate towards. This will give you valuable insights into their style and help you select a ring that perfectly complements their taste.”

Consider their lifestyle as well. If they have an active lifestyle or work with their hands, choosing a ring with a lower profile or a more durable setting can prevent damage to the setting and relieve the stress and anxiety of a loved one doing their best to preserve the ring. Understanding your partner’s preferences and lifestyle will guide you towards the right ring.

Don’t: Focus Solely on the Price Tag

When it comes to engagement rings, it’s crucial not to get caught up solely in the price tag

“While budget is an important consideration, remember that the value of an engagement ring extends far beyond its cost,” advised Jeremy Millul. “Focus on the quality, craftsmanship, and emotional significance of the ring rather than fixating solely on its price.”

Take the time to educate yourself about the 4Cs

The former Bachelorette contestant, 32, teamed up with ring experts at Brilliant Earth to gift Miller-Keyes, 27, with her perfect diamond — a five-carat stunner — after previously purchasing three other baubles.

“Dean chose our Luna Bezel ring in a yellow gold setting with a five-carat, emerald cut, conflict free lab diamond,” Brilliant Earth’s SVP of merchandising and retail expansion, Kathryn Money, exclusively told Us Weekly of the new engagement ring. “This ring touches on all the current trends; a solitaire setting where the gemstone takes center stage, and an elongated fancy shaped diamond.”

Miller-Keyes new rock, which she received during a recent getaway to Japan, creates a “flattering look on the finger, giving it a timeless elegant design,” Money said, adding that the “Bezel ring settings allows wedding bands to sit flush, creating an eternally stacked look.”

Unglert, for his part, teased his partner’s latest ring during the Sunday, April 30, episode of his, Miller-Keyes and Jared Haibon’s “Help! We Suck at Being Newlyweds” podcast.

The former Bachelor contestant gushed, “It’s so pretty” before Haibon, 34, asked why the Colorado native bought a new ring for his fiancée. “It is my, uh, fourth ring,” Miller-Keyes confessed. Unglert then joked, “Her fourth ring and definitely her last.”

“I’ve got the one I’m wearing, this is No. 4,” Miller-Keyes, who met her fiancé on season 6 of Bachelor in Paradise in 2019, told Haibon. “No. 3

Lab-Made Diamonds Made up Over a Third of Engagement Rings Bought Last Year

Looks like lab-grown diamonds are shedding their stigma.

More than a third of engagement rings with a center stone sold last year were made in a lab, according to a survey from the Knot cited in The Wall Street Journal on Friday. On top of that, some jewelers—from legacy houses to upstart brands—are focusing their efforts on man-made stones.

More from Robb Report

“Consumers are smart,” said Benny Landa, the founder of the lab-grown-diamond company Lusix. “When they see a two carat lab-grown diamond for not much more than a one carat mined diamond, it’s a no-brainer.” (Currently, a one-carat labgrown diamond retails for about $1,430, while a traditional mined gem of the same size sells for $5,635.)

Tag Heuer Carrera Plasma

Lusix has teamed up with brands such as the LVMH-owned TAG Heuer, which used the company’s diamonds in its Carrera Plasma watch. The crown is made of one whole diamond, while the rest of the timepiece is encrusted with stones of different shapes. Doing the same with mined stones would have been wasteful, given the cutting and shaping that would have needed to go into the project, according to the company. Comparatively, the lab-grown diamonds could be created in the exact shape required.

TAG Heuer isn’t the only luxury brand getting into the man-made game. Both Gucci and Breitling have incorporated such stones into their accessories; the latter of which has even said all of its watches will use only lab-grown diamonds by next year. In 2022, the Swiss watchmaker debuted its first timepiece using man-made stones, the Super Chronomat 38 Origins.

Not all legacy jewelers are on board with the transition, though. At this year’s Watches and Wonders, the CEO of Cartier stood by traditional diamonds, at

Worker’s ‘Unpleasant’ Reaction to Colleague’s Engagement Ring Applauded

A woman was backed online for refusing to celebrate her colleague’s engagement, after revealing she was told off by other team members for not showing any enthusiasm when the news was announced.

In a post shared on Mumsnet earlier in March, under the username Thelaughingtonepoliceman, she explained that the reason she wasn’t sufficiently excited when her colleague broke her engagement news and started “waving [her] medium-sized rock around the office,” was that she didn’t think the woman was truly happy.

According to the poster, the woman who just got engaged had been in a relationship with her now-fiance for over seven years. During their relationship, on two occasions she had been in tears at work parties because of his behavior, including once when he accused her of going out just to try to sleep with other men.

A recent survey by YouGov found that 63 percent of Americans who have been in a monogamous relationship say they have never cheated on their partner, while 33 percent say they have cheated somehow, either physically, emotionally, or both. And 54 percent of those who have been in a monogamous relationship say they have been cheated on.

The poster continued by saying that everyone at the office was giving the newly engaged woman attention while she just gave her a “peremptory” nod, said “congratulations, very exciting” and wandered off, while the rest of them talked about the ring for a further 20 minutes.

She wrote: “Full disclosure I find the whole business of engagement and engagement rings pointless and utterly embarrassing at the best of times. If you want to get married,

Who Pays for the Engagement Rings on ‘Love Is Blind’? The Inside Scoop

Love Is Blind is back for another season with a brand new cast of individuals hoping to meet their perfect romantic match in the Netflix show’s fourth installment.

The show follows a unique format that sees the men and women dating each other in “pods” where they are unable to see the person who they are romantically involved with.

Participants spend ten days in the pods before some choose to get engaged to one of their co-stars. Only then do they meet their fiancé or fiancée in person.

The proposals on the show take place in the pods so the couples do not see each other in person, however, once they do come face to face, whoever proposes presents their new partner with an engagement ring to seal the deal.

As participants live in accommodation attached to the pods during the time before they get engaged, fans have been curious in the past as to how they get a hold of the engagement rings.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about the behind-the-scenes secrets on Love Is Blind, including who provides the engagement rings.

Who Pays for the Engagement Rings?

Ahead of the Love Is Blind Season 3 finale in November 2022, the series creator, and founder of production company Kinetic Content, Chris Coelen, revealed how the engagements work on the show.

Speaking to Newsweek, Coelen confirmed that, as with rings for the weddings on the series, the show’s production team provide the engagement rings.

He explained: “If they get to the point that they want to propose, we will ultimately give them [the rings].

Celebrity jeweler Neil Lane shares the engagement ring trends that will be popular this year

Insider spoke to Neil Lane.PeopleImages/Rachel Lodin/Getty Images

  • Insider spoke to jewelry expert Neil Lane about upcoming engagement ring trends.

  • The designer told Insider mixed metals and nontraditional stones are gaining popularity.

  • Little details like hidden halos are also on the rise.

An engagement ring is worn for (ideally) the duration of someone’s life, so you might not associate them with trends.

However, engagement ring designs come in and out of style like any type of jewelry.

Insider checked in with Neil Lane — the jewelry designer who works with celebrities, “The Bachelor” franchise, and has a line at Kay — about what styles will be popular this coming year.

Stones may look different in 2023

Speaking to Insider, Lane said people should anticipate a shift in the types of stones couples are gravitating towards in 2023.

Recently, round, princess-cut, oval, and even toi-et-moi stones have been among the most popular engagement ring shapes. But Lane told Insider he’s seeing a shift in stones this year.

“Fancy shapes are really, really popular,” he said, pointing specifically to marquise and pear-shaped rings. “Things that weren’t in the general mass before are really trending.”

Couples are also choosing to pair those statement stones with hidden halos, drifting away from standard halos, according to Lane. A traditional halo of diamonds frames a center stone, whereas a hidden halo circles the bottom of a stone.

Likewise, Lane told Insider more people are gravitating towards colorful stones for their engagement rings, whether that be a colorful diamond or an alternative stone like a sapphire or emerald.

“Diamonds used to be the center stone, and it still is, but there are so many opportunities to buy things with color today,” he said.

The meaning behind Zara Tindall’s understated engagement ring

Zara and Mike Tindall are celebrating their 11th anniversary this weekend (July 30). As the couple celebrate another year of wedded bliss, we look back at the significance of the engagement ring Mike presented to Zara, and why its ‘understated’ vibe was a ‘heart-warming’ gesture that proved how well Mike knew his bride-to-be.

Zara and Mike Tindall got married on this weekend back in 2011, but if their body language at Ascot is anything to go by, they’re still as mad about each other as the day they met.

As the two celebrate their anniversary, jewelry experts have looked back at how the choice of engagement ring said a lot about Mike’s understanding of his bride-to-be, and the “heart-warming” reason the relatively low-key ring showed a real concerted effort to think about what Zara would need.

Leading diamond expert, Maxwell Stone of Steven Stone, told woman&home, “It’s heart-warming to see how much thought Mike Tindall put into Zara’s engagement ring design – particularly the decision to have a low profile setting, ensuring that she doesn’t have to remove the previous gem to complete in equestrian events.”

“Boasting a 1.5 carat round diamond, Zara’s ring is a stunner, but like her mother’s engagement ring, it’s notably understated in comparison to other famous engagement rings – allowing her to wear it on a day to day basis, which is perfect for her active lifestyle.”

They estimated that Zara’s engagement ring has an estimated value of around $18,000.

Your 5-step guide to picking the perfect engagement ring

You’ve found the person you want to marry and spend the rest of your life with…and now you just need to pop the question while presenting the perfect engagement ring – no pressure, right?!  Wrong! Stella Moissanite shares tips and tricks on how to navigate the seemingly endless options of engagement rings out there in order to find the perfect one.  Let’s get started:

Step 1: Set a budget first. Knowing how much you want to spend on the ring will help you narrow down the options, making the process less overwhelming.

Step 2: Find the style. Is your soon-to-be fiancé more or a traditional person, a minimalist or a creative? Knowing what style the future ringbearer loves will help you decide on the overall look as well as the stone setting and cut.

Step 3: Understand the metals. Gold and platinum are the most popular choices. Gold comes in different colours (white gold, rose gold and yellow gold) and in different levels of purity (9 carat, 14 carat, 18 carat) based on your colour preference and budget.

Platinum only comes in one colour and is the most durable option. It is also the metal that costs the most, as platinum is a heavier, denser metal to use in ring making.

Silver, however, is a much softer metal and is suitable for engagement rings that will be worn everyday. It’s an ideal option for smaller budgets or grooms who plan to upgrade their fiancé’s ring in a few years.

Step 4: The right setting. The setting is what holds your moissanites in place in your ring, so you want to look for something that will not only display your gemstone, but also keep it protected from knocks and bumps. Poor settings can result in prongs failing and gems falling
