TikTok can’t get over huge Indiana school with fashion room, auto shop and natatorium

The size and amenities of an Indiana public high school were shown off in viral TikTok videos, and the internet is amazed.

The Carmel High School DECA club took TikTok viewers on a tour of the school, which offers plenty more than a typical high school.

Their gyms and cafeterias — plural — only touch the surface of what the Indianapolis-area school provides students. If the gyms weren’t enough, they also have their own wrestling room and natatorium, an indoor swimming center.

Carmel High School features a spacious auditorium and modern library, along with a cafe, planetarium and its own TV studio and live radio room.

The tour continued, as viewers got a peek into the school’s auto shop, wood shop and one of their many cooking rooms.

“This is where movies are filmed,” another said.

The videos captured the attention of TikTok, where they were viewed more than 6 million times. They’ve also circulated on Twitter, with one being watched more than 24 million times as of Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Carmel is also one of the wealthiest cities in Indiana, with a median household income of $115,109.

The tour was getting some commentators the itch to re-enroll in school.

“I’m 25 and I wanna go here,” one person said.

“Can I attend Carmel High School as a 20-year-old,” one commenter asked.

Who Pays for the Engagement Rings on ‘Love Is Blind’? The Inside Scoop

Love Is Blind is back for another season with a brand new cast of individuals hoping to meet their perfect romantic match in the Netflix show’s fourth installment.

The show follows a unique format that sees the men and women dating each other in “pods” where they are unable to see the person who they are romantically involved with.

Participants spend ten days in the pods before some choose to get engaged to one of their co-stars. Only then do they meet their fiancé or fiancée in person.

The proposals on the show take place in the pods so the couples do not see each other in person, however, once they do come face to face, whoever proposes presents their new partner with an engagement ring to seal the deal.

As participants live in accommodation attached to the pods during the time before they get engaged, fans have been curious in the past as to how they get a hold of the engagement rings.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about the behind-the-scenes secrets on Love Is Blind, including who provides the engagement rings.

Who Pays for the Engagement Rings?

Ahead of the Love Is Blind Season 3 finale in November 2022, the series creator, and founder of production company Kinetic Content, Chris Coelen, revealed how the engagements work on the show.

Speaking to Newsweek, Coelen confirmed that, as with rings for the weddings on the series, the show’s production team provide the engagement rings.

He explained: “If they get to the point that they want to propose, we will ultimately give them [the rings].

This Game-Changing Turmeric Face Mask Has Been in My Skincare Routine for 7 Years

There aren’t many beauty products I buy more than once — it’s rare that something wows me to the point that I can’t live without it. But the Kiehl’s Turmeric Cranberry Seed Energizing Radiance Mask blew me away when I tried it in 2016, and I’ve been using it ever since.

My skin can get oily, and I have to be vigilant about keeping sebum and blackheads at bay. From the first use, this face mask;elm:context_link;itc:0″ class=”link “face mask left my skin feeling clean and incredibly soft, evacuating all the excess buildup from my pores. It also gave my face a taut, lifted effect — not tight or uncomfortable, but firm and defined.

It has a satisfyingly thick, putty-like texture that’s dotted with crushed cranberry seeds for manual exfoliation. It doesn’t take much to cover the face, so the product lasts a long time. Sometimes I just apply it to the oilier parts of my face, like the nose, chin, and forehead, or use it as a spot treatment for a stubborn recurring zit or deep blackhead.

Bed on Water’s C5: “Rorschach” Collection Blends Fashion and Psychology

How creative director Shanel Campbell explores humanity through dress

How creative director Shanel Campbell explores humanity through dress

On February 15th, 2023, Shanel Campbell, designer and creative director of Bed on Water- released the C5: “Rorschach” Collection. The 9-look capsule collection is a segment of a year-long project inspired by Rorschach tests: a form of psychological evaluation. With many of the garments featuring interpretive ink-like designs, Campbell uses this collection to conceptualize what a “human Rorschach test” would look like.

In 1939, Rorschach tests became an official way to predict one’s personality, and is still used to this day. Invented in 1918 by Hermann Rorschach, this test urges subjects to interpret meanings from seemingly ambiguous ink block images. In analyzing the results, psychiatrists can make scientific predictions about a patient’s personality and mental health.

From start to finish, this collection is both a work of art and an exercise in mental elasticity. Not only are the clothes inspired by ink blocks, but so too are the mannequins that Campbell opts for instead of traditional models. Both the mannequin and many garments model the symmetry that occurs in Rorschach testing. In creating this collection, Campbell takes a deep dive into the psychology of both the wearer and onlooker.

While some garments offer an interpretive element inherent to Rorschach tests through deep blue and black patterning, others let the mannequin do the talking. Utilizing gray, nude, and other objectively subdued colors, Campbell oftentimes makes the mannequin the center of attention. In doing so, the designer blurs the lines of dress and humanity.

Worn by the likes of Solange Knowles and Issa Rae, Bed on Water defines itself as an “interdisciplinary art-house,” and Shanel Campbell is just as multifaceted. During the 2020 pandemic, Campbell began using mannequins to model her designs in an

Designer Richard Quinn reveals who from the royal family he’d love to dress

The designer, 33, told the PA news agency: “Something like a royal occasion in the evening, we’d love to do some sort of gown.”

On the runway, Quinn’s signature has become the clash of traditional floral patterns with black latex – but he doesn’t think he could put Kate in latex.

“[That’s] probably a step too far,” he said.

“But a nice long opera glove – looks like she likes that, we saw that the other day [at the EE Bafta Film Awards on Sunday].

“An opera glove with a bow or something – we’ll spice it up in a different way.”

Reflecting on the impact the Queen had when she attended his show and presented him with the inaugural Queen Elizabeth II Award for British Design, Quinn – who is based in south London – said: “Nothing but positive things came from it.

“As a designer, you want as many eyes looking at what you do, especially as you start – that was probably the most perfect storm thing ever to happen to us.

“In terms of how we design, we’ve always designed for event dressing and that idea of pageantry. I feel there’s mirroring there – the pomp that comes with our clothes is quite appropriate.”

Quinn presented his latest collection at London Fashion Week last weekend, and he added even more pageantry by sending wedding gowns down the runway for the first time.

“We’ve got a different side of our business not many people know about, we do lots of bespoke bridalwear and we’ve done

Jim Shulman: The Paris shop was the go-to place in Pittsfield for ladies’ fashions | History

PARIS01.jpg

The Paris shop was opened in Pittsfield in 1921 by Abraham Schwartz and his stepfather, Isadore Koblinsky, on North Street. It operated 58 years, becoming one of the city’s most popular local apparel shops.

In the 1950s and 1960s downtown Pittsfield had over 100 retail businesses, with the bulk of them apparel stores.

One of these that always puzzled me, at least for its name, was The Paris shop. The store was a small family-run operation that stocked the latest in women’s outfits, dresses, skirts, blouses, sweaters and more.

My mother and sisters were frequent customers for the latest fashions. Many of my classmates got their high school prom gowns there and eventually their wedding dresses as well.

The store was popular and the salespeople were helpful people. One of my friends recently shared when shopping for her wedding gown in the 1970s, she picked out a beautiful dress and the clerk quoted her a very reasonable price.

My friend gave a deposit and when she returned, she learned the wrong price was given. The correct price was nearly four times the amount she was quoted. Despite the error, the store owner made good on the original offer.

This owner was Abraham “Abe” Schwartz, who was not only a nice guy but a hard-working and honest businessman and the uncle of my close friend, Rhoda Pomerantz. Abe was originally from Tarnow, Poland, and came to this country in 1910 at the age of 10.

His mother, Pauline, a young divorcee, wanted to find a better life and place to raise her son. They settled in Chicago where she met and married a skilled tailor named Isadore Koblinsky. He and Pauline had three more children including my friend Rhoda’s mother, Ann.

Celebrity jeweler Neil Lane shares the engagement ring trends that will be popular this year

Insider spoke to Neil Lane.PeopleImages/Rachel Lodin/Getty Images

  • Insider spoke to jewelry expert Neil Lane about upcoming engagement ring trends.

  • The designer told Insider mixed metals and nontraditional stones are gaining popularity.

  • Little details like hidden halos are also on the rise.

An engagement ring is worn for (ideally) the duration of someone’s life, so you might not associate them with trends.

However, engagement ring designs come in and out of style like any type of jewelry.

Insider checked in with Neil Lane — the jewelry designer who works with celebrities, “The Bachelor” franchise, and has a line at Kay — about what styles will be popular this coming year.

Stones may look different in 2023

Speaking to Insider, Lane said people should anticipate a shift in the types of stones couples are gravitating towards in 2023.

Recently, round, princess-cut, oval, and even toi-et-moi stones have been among the most popular engagement ring shapes. But Lane told Insider he’s seeing a shift in stones this year.

“Fancy shapes are really, really popular,” he said, pointing specifically to marquise and pear-shaped rings. “Things that weren’t in the general mass before are really trending.”

Couples are also choosing to pair those statement stones with hidden halos, drifting away from standard halos, according to Lane. A traditional halo of diamonds frames a center stone, whereas a hidden halo circles the bottom of a stone.

Likewise, Lane told Insider more people are gravitating towards colorful stones for their engagement rings, whether that be a colorful diamond or an alternative stone like a sapphire or emerald.

“Diamonds used to be the center stone, and it still is, but there are so many opportunities to buy things with color today,” he said.

Burt’s Bees Skincare Works Harder, Not Harsher

Brought to you by Burt’s Bees

Good skincare should be easy to maintain year-round. Does your skincare routine hold up amid busy schedules and changing seasons? Cold winters can be harsh on skin. It can be a challenge to find skincare products that are gentle enough to keep your skin balanced as the temperature drops. Burt’s Bees’ new skincare duo—the Breakout Defense Foaming Wash and Even Tone Liquid Exfoliant from the Clear and Balanced Collection—is simple and effective enough to withstand the busiest of routines and harshest of weather climates. Developed by Burt’s Bees product designer and chemist, Abena Antwi, these products were designed with all skin tones in mind to help balance breakout-prone skin and provide daily defense against key breakout triggers. Host Scottie Beam sits down with Antwi and makeup artist Keanda Snagg to share how their skin changes with the seasons, and discuss how they fit skincare in their daily routines.

Seasonal Skin

Beam opens the conversation by describing how environmental factors can affect her skin as the seasons change. “You know the seasons change—everything’s gotta change. The nail color has to change, the outfits have to change, the hair color changes, okay? But what also changes is my skin, especially during the wintertime… My skin gets really, really dry.”

Beam asks Abena Antwi, a Burt’s Bees product designer and chemist, why it’s important to change up our skincare routine as it gets colder.

“I get very dry during the wintertime, because we have the heat on in the house, it’s cold outside,” Antwi says. “So extra moisturization is the key for my skincare.”

Snagg, a makeup artist, shares a similar experience. “I mean for me, same, my skin gets really dry in the winter… I get really dry around the mouth, in the cheek area.”

King Charles’ snazzy tribute to Queen Camilla caught our eye

King Charles’ snazzy tribute to Queen Camilla after she pulled out of a joint engagement meant the monarch stepped up his fashion game.

King Charles stepped out solo on February 22 for a visit to The Felix Project. As the UK capital’s largest food distribution charity they help to distribute surplus food to over 1,000 schools and community groups. Heading to their East London site, His Majesty met the charity’s dedicated staff and volunteers and unveiled a new freezer – one of 600 that will be sent to community partners to help prevent food waste. Queen Consort Camilla had originally been supposed to visit too and eagle-eyed fans might have noticed King Charles’ snazzy tribute to his wife in her absence…

After testing positive for Covid-19 for the second time last week a Palace spokesperson confirmed that Queen Camilla wouldn’t be accompanying King Charles to The Felix Project

“[T]o allow for additional preparation ahead of Thursday’s rescheduled literary reception and other commitments, Her Majesty will not be attending today’s Felix Project engagement,” they announced.

Though she seems to have been in King Charles’ thoughts when he was getting ready for his solo visit. King Charles’ snazzy tribute to her might not be immediately obvious but his pastel pink tie features some pretty sweet animal designs. Close-up snaps of his tie reveal that the pattern is one of owls and pussycats which immediately conjures up the idea of the iconic nonsense poem, The Owl and the Pussy-Cat
