Why Am I Longing to Shop From Paris Hilton’s Houseware Line?

Like so many people my age, I harbor complicated feelings toward Paris Hilton and the general concept of femininity—and for similar reasons. Both lure you in with the promise of glamour and ease, but can ultimately leave you feeling cold and wondering why you blew half your rent on a dress you’ll never wear. (Or, in the case of the families who invited Hilton and her onetime sidekick Nicole Richie to live and work with them on The Simple Life, why on earth you trusted a toxically rich and very obviously lazy socialite to milk your cow.)

What I’ve slowly come to realize over the years is that the trappings of traditional femininity have to be applied in specific, strategic doses so as not to make me itchy—i.e., no to bachelorette parties, but yes to getting a manicure and gossiping with the nail tech while the polish dries. The same, it seems, can be said of the Hilton persona; though I wouldn’t necessarily want to hang with Paris 24/7 (not, it should be said, that she’s offering), I am very interested in her paris-hiltons-houseware-line-on-sale-on-amazon-cookware-more/&asc_source=web” class=”external-link” data-event-click=”{"element":"ExternalLink","outgoingURL":"https://cna.st/affiliate-link/7ZJg7i5XH42a3f5yiebprqZoTijwAWVwQwm7fmDjaJCpEBk9x43yz98WvLpEJgK29VZ3QN1bX9DaxZPgsxEEuHVPqU6FCRcWzriwKv7XLNMnyBPR46rXyaEw4jwhLjG4V7FPtdm9LaQFKc2RA2UrEK9r9iRoa21rtg82PpybCMtRUD4FDWqpNLyu9BqxceozVHYhiX9k1W4yEYrmVxadL2LFa8Wxpv4LiiYaF9SKtsMBJ9ZhZFy2f6i4gYKxjwghnJmCTvAN6SWCGfGBQcS7AiDj6cymcYoahjPsRra7y3kKCPyL8sr7DZZu5bCcU1emWBYbZWBgELefSCAY4ajERCKYFbmTGnnWGJsbh49HhXgH7un6c8CXc2GEdpPJ9zJ7SzSjD5TqnC6kCXL9n2t"}” href=”https://cna.st/affiliate-link/7ZJg7i5XH42a3f5yiebprqZoTijwAWVwQwm7fmDjaJCpEBk9x43yz98WvLpEJgK29VZ3QN1bX9DaxZPgsxEEuHVPqU6FCRcWzriwKv7XLNMnyBPR46rXyaEw4jwhLjG4V7FPtdm9LaQFKc2RA2UrEK9r9iRoa21rtg82PpybCMtRUD4FDWqpNLyu9BqxceozVHYhiX9k1W4yEYrmVxadL2LFa8Wxpv4LiiYaF9SKtsMBJ9ZhZFy2f6i4gYKxjwghnJmCTvAN6SWCGfGBQcS7AiDj6cymcYoahjPsRra7y3kKCPyL8sr7DZZu5bCcU1emWBYbZWBgELefSCAY4ajERCKYFbmTGnnWGJsbh49HhXgH7un6c8CXc2GEdpPJ9zJ7SzSjD5TqnC6kCXL9n2t”Amazon homeware line, which is on sale now.

Before you raise an eyebrow, hear me out: Everything in the collection, from the pastel mini fridge to the rhinestone-encrusted thermos and the sold-out “That’s hot” tea kettle, is tacky and pink and over-the-top and proto-Barbiecore…and I weirdly kind of love it. It’s like someone fell asleep at the front desk of the Madonna Inn and let you raid the kitchen, something that has been a dream of mine ever since I first glimpsed the inside of that historic (and frilly) California hotel.

Though I’d be less inclined to subject my bedroom or living room to this kind of hot pink assault

Kate Bosworth’s Diamond Ring Fuels Engagement Rumors

Over a year into their relationship, Kate Bosworth and Justin Long officially made their red carpet debut at the Vanity Fair Oscars party on March 12. Wearing a chic plunging gown by Monique Lhuillier, the “Blue Crush” actor smiled for the cameras with her hand on Long’s chest, offering a view of her massive diamond ring. Though reps for the actors have not confirmed their engagement, it sure looks like the couple is headed toward the aisle.

On March 15, Bosworth seemed to reference the news on Instagram alongside film photos from the Oscars afterparty. Among a list of credits that included Long and her glam team for bringing her beautiful look to life, she thanked her nail artist Ashlie Johnson for her “most important manicure to date.” Johnson also referenced Bosworth’s “new bling” in a post of her own, further hinting at an engagement.

Bosworth’s ring appears to be a classic, round-cut diamond set on a thin silver band. The sparkler is estimated to be about 10 carats and valued at $500,000, according to diamond expert Mike Fried, CEO of The Diamond Pro. “A diamond of this size is incredibly rare,” he told POPSUGAR. Bosworth has yet to share a close-up of the round-cut diamond, known as a traditional shape that never goes out of style.

The new accessory complemented Bosworth’s regal gown, which featured a black velvet corset and a floor-length pale pink skirt from the designer’s fall 2023 collection. Coincidentally, Lhuillier is known for her exquisite bridal wear, so perhaps the two are subtly offering a hint at a collaboration in the future. Styled by Samantha McMillen, Bosworth finished the minimalist look with Cicada jewels, including a ring on her right hand and diamond earrings.

‘I was raging’: British Muslim influencer Salma Masrour on fashion and anti-hijab prejudice

At a Yemeni cafe close to Warren Street station in central London, I meet the modest fashion influencer Salma Masrour.

Months after a high-profile incident of alleged hijab discrimination at a Paris restaurant, it’s back to business as usual for the social media star.

Dressed in black workout gear, the influencer has just returned from Dubai and says she doesn’t have a lot of time left before her yoga class.

‘We’re not seen for our talents or our work, we’ve become like a diversity tick box. Sometimes at events, I’m the only one in hijab’

– Salma Masrour

“Because of my job, I spend so much time on social media, I really need time away from my phone, even if it’s just for 45 minutes,” the 26-year-old Londoner says.

The day’s monochrome palette is a stark contrast to the vibrant and colourful outfits she usually dresses in.

Her preferred look combines sophisticated, tailored elements, with street style, while conforming to Islamic ideals of modesty.

After graduating with a degree in pharmacy, Masrour fell into the world of lifestyle influencing, catering to one of fashion’s most lucrative demographics: Muslim women and those looking for so-called “modest style”.

The sector has grown rapidly in recent decades with fashion outlets from H&M to Burberry releasing modest lines and even advertising their collections using hijab-wearing models.

It’s a space where figures like Masrour have been able to establish a name for themselves, advertising “looks” that their followers can either imitate or adapt.

Masrour, who lives in the UK and is of Moroccan descent, has over 180,000 followers on Instagram where she shares photos and videos of her style choices, as well as video blogs on her lifestyle and travel experiences.

“I’ve been doing this for seven years now,” she tells Middle East

Ukrainian designers send out defiant message from London Fashion Week

Ukrainian designers sent out a defiant message at London Fashion Week Tuesday with clothes made from the neck ties their menfolk no longer wear and butterfly motifs to symbolise the “fragility of life”.
The three collections by fashion labels Kseniaschnaider, Paskal and Frolov were put together in Ukraine despite constant interruptions from missile attacks and air raid sirens.

“I think it’s really important not to stop,” said Ksenia Schnaider, one half of the husband and wife team behind the Kseniaschnaider label.
The designer has been travelling back and forth from Ukraine and her new base in the UK, where her daughter is at school, since taking the decision to carry on with fashion despite the war.

Schnaider feared she might “never be able to create again” after being forced to leave Kyiv last March.

But after travelling to Hungary, then Germany and finally Britain, she decided she had to continue for the sake of herself and her team.

“You can’t stop even if reality is terrible, you should continue doing what you do best, still be creative, try to bring beauty to this world of tragedy,” she told AFP backstage.

“There’s a lot of new meanings in this, it’s not just being a fashion designer like it used to be, I need to save my culture and my traditions.”

Kseniaschnaider’s Autumn Winter 2023 collection featured plenty of the brand’s trademark denim along with blazers and skirts made out of surplus stocks of neck ties now that Ukrainian men have swapped them for military fatigues.

“It’s really meaningful because Ukrainian men don’t need ties now because they are fighting,” she said.
